Inaugural Game on New Board

Inaugural Game on New Board, originally uploaded by RumAli.

This is the first game played on my new board, a SamBoard. It was given to me by Eric Z, Seth G, Sarah B, and supposedly, my ex-girlfriend, Monica B. I say "supposedly" because the ever reliant Seth G seemed unsure as to her participation in the group gift.

It's a great gift. I'm already planning on getting a nice black cymbal bag for it. The board is well-constructed, and even though my "dream" board - that's the one handmade by one of my woodworking friends - is square, wood, and stout - I'm charmed by the roundness of my new board. It spins easily.

I drew everything in this first game. After I exchanged one tile, Eric opened with ANNUITY (which I held because I had to make sure it wasn't spelled with just one N!), which gave me tiles to play through. I missed EDITRESS (I only know the form EDITRIX) and something else in lieu of RESIDUES. I took forEVER to find REARmING, but not nearly as long to find the GAyETIES, which sealed the game for me.

I won the next game, too, largely on what is my third triple-triple on Eric - and possibly my seventh one in my entire life. The word was TARLETAN, a natural eight through the E of Eric's ENATION. 122 points. Afterwards, I tried to remember all the triple-triples in my life:

There are two of them in tournament play: IDOCRASE and REACTIVE.
Then there is one of them in Scrouble play: VIRTUOSO
Then there are a bunch in friendly matches: WHISPERY; TARLETAN; LEISURED (I think).

It seems inconceivable that I cannot rightly remember all my triple-triples. But it's a good sign. I remember when I thought that I'd remember every single bingo I laid down, simpy because, back then, it was such a strange occurrence. Now I only remember a few, and that's largely because of their significance. Here are some before I go to sleep:

PRIESTLY (possibly the first bingo I laid down against the computer)
ATRIUMS (possibly the first bingo I laid down against the computer)
LISTING (the first bingo against a human)
OUTSIDE (out bingo to complete a come back in a 1-day tourney in Waukesha)
FIREDOG (the F hooked on the AR to make ARF, creating a pair of words that seem to relate)
FORENSIC (played against Seth in one of our final matches at Fuel Cafe)
SERIOUS (the first bingo I played in a tournament)
GHARRIES (played in Waukesha)
UNDREST (played at first Nationals)
HOTELMAN (played at first Nationals)

I'm going to brush my teeth and sleep.
